In 2025, FLM Haiti moves into its 42nd year of helping Haitians help themselves to advance in education, health care, and hope. Here Bishop Leon Pamphile, FLM Haiti, executive director and founder, offers encouragement and faith as we continue in the mission.
FLM Haiti’s HOPE ON THE MOVE Walk-Run 5K
Join us on Saturday, May 17, 2025, for the HOPE ON THE MOVE Walk-Run 5K at Highland Park in Pittsburgh, PA! This milestone event supports FLM Haiti’s mission of providing education, healthcare, and hope to communities in Haiti. Walk or run with us from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM, starting at the Sycamore Grove Shelter, and help us continue "Helping Haitians Help Themselves." All proceeds benefit life-changing literacy and healthcare initiatives. Registration for only the walk-run is $40 or $50 and includes an official event T-shirt for $10. Don’t miss this powerful day of movement and purpose!

Latest News
We’re excited to announce the new Director of ETI, Stanley Avena. Stanley recently came on board and has been tasked with leading new strategic efforts for the school.
Also, in 2023, FLM Haiti raised more than $100,000 toward its 40th Anniversary Celebration. As a result, FLM Haiti was able to launch an endowment fund under the guidance of Pittsburgh’s POISE Foundation, a community philanthropy that for 44 years has worked to foster the growth and sustainability of the Pittsburgh region’s Black community.
The first $15,000 installment into the fund was presented to Mark Lewis, CEO of the POISE Foundation, at the 2024 annual banquet. Since then, another $5,000 has been added to the fund.
The endowment fund is a permanent investment that will allow FLM to generate revenue in perpetuity. Its goal is to provide a sustainable source of income while preserving the fund’s principal.
Our Programs
FLM Haiti has partnered with the people of Haiti since 1983. Our programs in education, health care, and hope have been offered to empower the people of Haiti with the resources and skills necessary to live up to their full potential. We support the employment and development of Haitian physicians, teachers, administrators, and more.
Education
Up to 70+ adult literacy centers teach up to 3,000+ Haitian each year to read, write and do basic math. Our government certified Pre-K through Grade 13 school provides education and meals to 650 students, preparing them to participate in Haiti’s future.
Healing
Our pediatrician, physicians, dentists and other health workers offer medical care to a community of 30,000+. We provide for the general health and well-being of men, women, and children.
Building
Excelsior Technical Institute (ETI) provides academic and vocational skills to equip Haitian men and women with the necessary plumbing, electrical, and computer/information technology jobs to rebuild and build a stronger Haiti.
Get Involved
Involve your heart and soul in FLM Haiti’s life-changing mission. FLM Haiti is an organization of U.S. volunteers who support, in Haiti, a K-13 school for more than 600+ students, a community health center that provides care to hundreds of Haitian families each month, and literacy outreach, which peaked at 70+ sites in 11 communities that teaches reading, writing, and math to some 2,000+ young and adult Haitians every year.
